The Community Development Department is responsible for the development and maintenance of short and long range plans pertaining to the physical development of the city and for monitoring development trends and formulating policy pertaining to land use and community development. The Department is also responsible for administering land use control mechanisms, including Zoning and Subdivision Regulations, Building Codes, and Public Nuisances and Property Enhancement Codes. The Department is comprised of three divisions: Planning and Zoning Services, Building Services, and Neighborhood Services.
Projects within the planning jurisdictional area may require a number of approvals before development can begin. Small projects, that meet all zoning requirements and do not require a special permit, variance, or site plan review, can be brought directly to the Building Services Division, and the developer can proceed to secure a building permit. Other types of projects may require a number of review steps. Please refer to the Developers Guide to City Services for more information on the development process in Bartlesville.
